Student Pop-Up ILLUSTRATED GRAPHICS.
As a student in the Advanced Graphic Design course, I participated in developing illustrated graphics and merchandise for a Pop-Up Shoppe Event held by Graphic Design and Photography Department at Santa Barbara City College (SBCC). The event showcased and sold student-made graphic work that raised over $1,000 for the SBCC Foundation, a private philanthropic organization that partners with SBCC to provide scholarships to its students.

01 MOOD BOARD
I took the Pop-Up Shoppe Event as an opportunity to explore my illustrative capabilities. I often try to incorporate hand-drawn characteristics through much of my design practice. However, for this project, I wanted to develop visual art that was purely hand-drawn. To begin the design process, I created a mood board (shown above) of vector artworks I found playful and intriguing. I appreciated how fluid yet structural these designs were and wanted to emulate this style. To develop my illustrations, I hand-drew them on Procreate to ensure a sketch-like appearance and quality.

02 ILLUSTRATED GRAPHICS
Here are the final illustrated graphics I used to make merchandise for the pop-up. To add my style and perspective, I incorporated shading on the petals and center stigmas to create the illusion of them being lit from overhead.
Additionally, I explored different framing options, starting with a square but later settling on heart and circle frames, which created fun, abstract petal shapes and movement in the designs. For the petal colors, I chose muted tones for cohesion and selected complementary and analogous palettes to unify the illustrations in each design.
