A Visual Designer interested in creating whimsical and thoughtful visual art and experiences.
Hello, I'm Adrian!  As a visual designer, I want to contribute to the beauty found in visual media.  For me, a beautiful design is as vital as informative content.  A visual’s ability to communicate should not compromise its beauty but only amplify it.  In today's media climate, we are often bombarded with negative imagery which overshadows the goodness in society.  I aim to create more positive experiences with the visuals we encounter in person and online.
I often described my work as whimsical but structured.  Though these concepts seem contradictory, they can work cohesively to produce informative and visually appealing works.  The Arts and Crafts Movement from the early twentieth century heavily influences my design style and approach.  Like the movement, I share values of using nature for inspiration and prioritizing characteristics such as simplicity, functionality, and beauty.  As a minimalist designer, I use clean lines, grid structures, and a visual hierarchy to establish a rhyme and reason foundation for polished visual language.  However, I enjoy incorporating unique color palettes and typefaces to give my designs character.
In line with the values of the Arts and Crafts Movement, I often incorporate hand-drawn visual elements into my works.  My design process dedicates ample time to hand sketching before entering the digital realm.  I enjoy exploring ideas by hand to refine them.  After rendering, I scan my sketches to produce a foundation.  I often use the Image Trace feature in Adobe Illustrator to retain some sketch’s textural quality, which I later polish to create the final designs.
